Michele Savélle

Born in Paris, France, and widely traveled in Europe, the United States, Mexico, Canada and South America, Michèle trained professionally in fine arts, glass craft, and graphic design in Seattle, Washington.

For much of her career, Michéle worked primarily in glass, showing at many galleries in the United States, including in Seattle, Boca Raton, Milwaukee, New York, Los Angeles, St. Louis. She moved to Mexico and currently resides in Puerto Vallarta. Her career body of work includes paintings and fused-glass works, along with the current series of detailed ink drawings.

Deeply moved by the natural world and pre-Columbian history of West Mexico, Michèle seeks in her drawings to convey the vitality and power of life force there, and through that, to hint at something deeper: the patterns and energies underlying those forms.

In Puerto Vallarta, it is possible to live closer to nature and still enjoy the comforts of a small city, and this exposure to a wilder nature on a daily basis (iguanas in the trees outside the windows of her home, for example) has allowed the artist to manifest an art that is deeply felt and expansive. At a time in history when we humans face the real possibility of extinction, and our impact on the natural world grows more extreme, Michèle embraces and shares the magnificence of creation, and strives to glimpse the forces behind it.

Michèle is represented by The Loft Galeria in Puerto Vallarta.

She lives with her husband, Klaus Liebetanz, a virtuoso professional flutist from Europe, and a small gray cat named Meredith.
